Thematic Analysis #2

Another recurring theme is the theme of survival. The entire novel revolves around Number Four's survival, as the fate of Lorien lies in him and five other children around the world. John is being hunted by the Mogadorians, and they will not rest until they kill him and the other five children. It is up to Number Four and the five others to survive and restore Lorien.
Henri, Number Four's Cepan, also realizes how Number Four must survive. In one of the last few scenes of the novel, Henri sacrifices his life to save Number Four from being killed. Before Henri's death, he also trained Number Four to fend for himself. These powers are essential to power, and without his powers Number Four would be defenseless.
Since the book is about Number Four staying alive, survival is a key theme of this novel. Number Four sacrificed a father-like figure and used his powers to survive the attacks of the Mogadorians. Because of this, I am Number Four revolves around the theme of survival.
